SECONDARY SCHOOL

Secondary education normally starts for most students at the age of 11 years old and ends with students taking the internationally recognised Cambridge IGCSE exams. Formed of two periods, for the first three years (Lower Secondary) students will study a broad range of subjects such as Maths, Sciences, English, Music, etc. When they reach 14-years-old they enter into a 2-year Upper Secondary phase that prepares them for the IGCSEs.

Cambridge Lower Secondary

Cambridge Lower Secondary develops skills and understanding in English, mathematics, and science for the first three years of secondary education. It combines a world-class curriculum, high-quality support for teachers, and integrated assessment. As a programme developed with consistent standards that are externally benchmarked across thousands of students, it enables reliable structured reporting to parents about the performance of their children, which has validity beyond the school. It also enables the school to ensure that students are properly prepared for the demands of the IGCSE courses in Upper Secondary.

Cambridge Upper Secondary

It is a unique UK government endorsed programme and the world’s most popular international qualification for 14 to 16 year olds offered in thousands of schools around the world. It is recognised by leading universities and employers worldwide, and is an international passport to progression and success. Developed over 25 years ago, it is tried, tested, and trusted by schools worldwide. They are a mark of quality and evidence of real ability.

TESTS & EXAMS

Lower Secondary includes sets of tests: Cambridge Lower Secondary Progression Tests and Cambridge Lower Secondary Checkpoint. These assessments provide an international benchmark of student achievement, helping teachers to identify learners’ strengths and weaknesses and give advice on progression routes. In Upper Secondary, students take the internationally recognised IGCSE exams.

Due to the high standards applied at Olive Crescent International School, your child will receive a high-quality level of preparation for IGCSE exams. Highly qualified teachers will always provide complete information on specialised subjects, as well as answer any question of the student, thereby reducing the psychological burden on the child.
